My Business Philosophy
I'm a builder, plain and simple. I'm
not a retailer, so I have no inventory. I only order components for
whatever current build(s) I have orders for. Since I don't tack on a
percentage of the cost of the components, I don't make money selling more
expensive components, or 'upselling' - I make money simply by adding a
labor charge or 'builder fee' to the estimated cost of a given system
upgrade - that charge is about the same for all systems, though full
upgrades have a larger added fee than barebones system. Thats simply
because of the added time I spend installing the additional hardware, OS
and associated software. So, in short, don't bother asking me to 'get you
a good price' on a particular part, since I have no 'secret wholesale
source'. I buy my parts online using pricewatch to find the best deals,
just like most DIY builders, which is exactly what I am. I'll
certainly never get rich doing this - I couldn't possibly assemble more
than one or two systems a day - making boatloads of money
is simply not my goal. I enjoy building computers and if I can make a
few hundred bucks a week doing it, I'll be more than
happy.
My Design Philosophy
My desire is to provide nothing but
top quality upgrades, without forcing the buyer into bankruptcy. Yes, I
could build cheaper Economy upgrades. I could use cheap $20 PCChips or $30
ECS motherboards like many Ebay builders do. I could use cheap Duron or
Celeron processors with 128k L2 caches. I could use cheap 'house brand'
memory that costs 30% less than the quality Corsair XMS and Kingston HyperX
that memory I offer. I could use $10 power supplies and $15 cases like many
big name manufacturers do, instead of the top quality Antec cases I offer.
But I doubt I would have many satisfied customers after a year or two. But
the fact is, I'd actually like to have a few return customers now and
then....
